2024 Projects

Last year we informed you about food shortages in Misuku; the cultivation of corn and peanuts became a success. Unfortunately, this agriculture does not seem to be able to support itself for the time being and the need is still high. This year our foundation was central to the Titus Brandsma parish in Oss; this parish organizes an annual fair trade Sunday. This makes it possible to continue supporting the corn project and even expand it. In this way, healthy food for the children at school is not at risk and there is also a bag of free corn for the most needy elderly.

There are two primary schools in Misuku. One has asked us for benches for the pupils. Last year we provided furniture for groups 1, 2 and 3. This year we have also realized this for the pupils of groups 4, 5 and 6. For the pupils of the upper grades we have had the benches refurbished, so that children no longer have to sit on the floor.

The other primary school was hit by an earthquake a few years ago, which meant that part of it could no longer be used. We then ensured that a few new classrooms (in a different location) could be built. It now appears that what was left of the “old building” is showing cracks. Construction has now started, so that lessons can be given indoors again. We are currently supporting 2 students: the student Augustine and the secondary school student Feli.

The education for adults is also still ongoing. Study material from previous years is being used again by the new students.

Sports is healthy. The foundation was asked if we could provide sports clothing for the students. And we succeeded: sports clothing for several teams, for boys and girls teams.
